Abstract

The present article brings an adaptation of the instruments Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) and Behavior Rating Scale for use in Brazil. The cross- cultural adaptation of these instruments consisted of the following stages: translation of the original instruments into Portuguese, back translations, committee assessment, cultural adaptation, face and content validations, in turn leading, respectively, to the Brazilian Versions of the Norman Corah Scale of Anxiety and the Venhan Behavioral Pattern Scale. These two scales were considered valid, reliable, and easy to be integrated in clinical activities and research, and can also be used together to assess the relationship between the parents’ anxiety and the children’s behavior.
