Abstract

This article aims to investigate the multiplicity of vocal, dramatic and expressive resources, besides to the diversity of styles and trends in the interfaces between singing and performance and the expansion of the scenic-musical space based on the analysis of the work Sound, for four female voices, light, scene and amplification by composer Luiz Carlos Csekö.  After a brief account of the composer's trajectory, the strategies used by Csekö to register his work such as Hybrid Graphic Notation, Suspended Time and Interfaces with Multimedia and Intermediates, beyond the use of miking and amplification in his approach to the concept of electroacoustic amalgam. Apart from Sound, three selected vocal works also explored by the composer will be mentioned like the huge range of possibilities and particular sound materials, the manipulation of text translated into textures and indications of scenic elements to the interpreter.

Author Biography

Diogo Rebel e Carvalho, Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro

Doctoral student in Music Composition by Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro – Unirio (Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro), Diogo Rebel e Carvalho is Master in Music (Language and Musical Structuring) from the same university and bachelor in Music Composition from Conservatório Brasileiro de Música (Brazilian Conservatory of Music). Pianist, conductor, composer and music director, he teaches in the Music degree, Music Analysis, Harmony and Arrangement at Instituto Federal Fluminense (Fluminense Federal Institute) in Campos dos Goytacazes/RJ. Motivated by the search for sound references, visual and bibliographical aimed at analyzing the repertoire and scenic-musical performance conceived from the second half of the twentieth century. His research in music is about different contexts and processes in the interfaces between musical composition and scenic creation in the most diverse contemporary aesthetic and stylistic contexts. Elements related to modern opera and contemporary Musical Theater are part of his work as a researcher.
