A reading of the novel Passageiro do fim do dia, by the Brazilian writer Rubens Figueiredo. The narrative is filled with signs arising out of the fictional plot that may be construed as supporter of a transgressive process leading to subjectivity release, especially because of its seemingly trivial plot, which revolves and openly reveals the latent humanity in the social agency based on dilapidation operations of the “selves” that it is made of. By accepting the suggestion that art is able to express – without commitment to truth in what concerns the need to mimic the bitterness of the real, and that therefore it offers another level to view the relationship between man and the use of space and time – this paper departs from Adorno’s teasing: the dissonant life that cannot be narrated, and provides an esthetic experience, and a new positioning towards the world with at least a share of sense of completeness.
