ABSTRACT
The thesis aims the teaching work in the Professional and Technological Education of
the workers. This study deals with the relationship between capital, labor and teaching
activity in contemporary ruling capitalism. In this sense, we guide ourselves based on
some references of Karl Marx, such as: Economic-philosophical Manuscripts, of 1844,
The German ideology, of Marx and Engels, The Capital, book I, Theories of surplus
value and "Chapter VI - unpublished", by The Capital. Lukacs and Mézáros are also
used as a Marxist referential. The analyzes made by Marx allow us to understand the
constitution and reproduction of the social being, which presupposes the historical
mediation of human labor. Only through this understanding can we explain the whole
dynamics of the production and reproduction of social life. The reflections of this author,
with the help of some of his interpreters, around the categories of work, abstract work,
value theory, merchandise, productive and unproductive work, among others, allowed
us, from their original assumptions, to unveil the character educational work,
subordinated to the vicissitudes of the process of capitalist production. Based on the
immanent reading and analysis procedure, it was verified that the dynamics related to
the nature of the teaching work in the technical and technological training of the workers
in the field of agriculture and of the agroindustries, besides propitiating the transfer of
knowledge and, consequently, the improvement of the labor force, produces elements
of a scientific and technological character that modify the processes of production in
agriculture, thus creating the concrete possibilities of generating profit for the capitalist
system. In this sense, the product of teaching work appears as a material objectification
of wealth; the fruits of their labor manifest themselves in the form of beneficial use values
for the self-expansion of capital. The examples examined from the adopted procedure,
in relation to the object of the investigation, allow us to infer that the teaching activity
produces value, given its special and circumstantial characteristics, thus allowing the
increase of labor productivity. The character of the teaching activity accompanies and is
modified according to the development of the contradictory progress of capitalist society,
in the sense that it contributes to some extent to the expansion of the material base of
production, which does not mean that this activity enjoys total autonomy. This activity is
part of the unity of contradiction between the development and regression of the
individual due to external impositions, but the potential of the teaching activity also
creates the concrete possibilities that can effectively contribute to the opening of
avenues for authentic social transformation.
