Sobre as estruturas causativas sintéticas no português

Résumé

Resumo: Neste travalho, proponho-me investigar a ocorrência, no português coloquial, de etruturas causativas sintéticas (do tipo Ele estudou os filhos no Estados Unidos), bem como apresentar uma possível análise e explicação para elas. Inicialmente, examino o comportamento sintático e semântico do SN pós-verbal nelas ocorrente; em seguida, confrontando-as com estruturas causativas analíticas, procuro apresentar uma explicação funcional, baseada, sobretudo, no princípio de motivação icônica postulada por Haiman (1983) e nos princípios de natureza pragmática defendidos por Comrie (1983).

Abstract: In this papaer, I intend to investigate the occurrence, in colloquial Portuguese, of synthetic causative structures such as Ele estudou os filhos no Estados Unidos - He studied (caus.) his children in USA - in an attempt to present an analysis ans an explanation for them. At first I will examine the syntactic and semantic behavior of the post-verbal NP, and after, comparing such strutures with the corresponding analytic ones, I will propose a functional explanation, based on the principle of iconic motivatioN postulated bY Haiman (1983) and on the pragmatic notions defended by Comrie (1983).
