Some remarks on comparative stylistics applied to translation from English into Portuguese

This paper was presented as part of a course on Translation Methodology given in the "II Encontro de Tradutores e Intérpretes de Minas Gerais" (Belo Horizonte, July 1982). It does not aim to be an exhaustive study of stylistics of either English or Portuguese, which would require a lifetime's work.
