Cinematic Platformer is a game subgenre. The objective of this study is to analyze the mechanics of the subgenre to observe the historical evolution of games. The 56 analyzed games belong to a list created by the community. They were evaluated based on objective criteria to determine whether or not they included certain mechanics. Finally, it was observed that there are two phases of the subgenre: a classic phase that lasts until the year 2000, and a renaissance phase that emerges in the 2010s with a new perspective on the subgenre.
