The Recreation Leader’s Practice as a Mode of Knowledge in Light of Heidegger

Abstract

This article revisits recreation in light of Heidegger’s philosophy, understanding the practice of the recreation leader as a mode of knowledge production rather than merely a functional activity subordinated to leisure. The study, qualitative and phenomenological-hermeneutic in orientation, employed the Collective Subject Discourse method to interpret narratives of nine experienced recreation leaders, focusing on questions from the Ontology category. The results indicate that recreation is lived as a space of learning, self-knowledge, and collective transformation, thus configured as an originary technique, poiesis, and a gesture of unveiling equivalent to episteme. It is concluded that recognizing recreational intervention as a form of knowledge contributes to valuing the praxis of recreation leaders and consolidating recreation within the academic horizon as an autonomous epistemic field.
