Preliminary study on the distribution of birds in five biotopes in the "Campus-UFMG" area

Abstract

With the demographic expansion the city of Bela Horizonte spread in a disorganized way. reducing more and more its green areas. The UFMG Campus became thus one of the few green areas of the city. With an area of 4.500.000 m² , the Campus has characteristic biotops and, during thirty months, we undertook a comparative study of the bird fauna in these biotops. This work determines the number of species characteristic of each biotop and the species that frequents more than one biotop. It contains also a check-list of the birds of the "UFMG-Carnpus".
