Functional rehabilitation in totally edentulous patient using alternative technique of sliding plates fabrication

The aim of this work was to report the laboratorial sequence and utilization of sliding plates in a totally edentulous patient presenting functional disorders in the stomatognathic system. Sliding plates were fabricated from the old patients complete dentures and the treatment was accomplished following the reestablishing principles of physiologic functions. It was commented the importance of differentiate treatment to the edentulous patient and the therapeutic value in conditioning structures and functions before the final rehabilitation. It was evaluated the mandibular movements in horizontal plane thought the comparison Gysi´s arch Gothic, recorded before and after the use of sliding plates. Authors concluded sliding plates seem to be a satisfactory option to reestablish the physiologic conditions of stomatognathic system.
