The perception of visitors to the Municipal Natural Park of Lajinha in Juiz de Fora (MG) for health and well-being

The green areas located in cities acquire more and more importance, as they contribute to maintaining air quality, thermal balance and to the provision of aesthetic values and balanced environments, which enable contact with nature and contribute to the improvement of health and well-being. This study aims to investigate the contributions of the Parque Natural Municipal da Lajinha, in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil, to the visitors’ health and well being. The methods used were bibliographical and document research, as well as structured interviews with visitors to the Parque Natural Municipal da Lajinha, in Juiz de Fora (MG), which have provided a more encompassing view of the diversity of potential contributions of parks to the health and welfare of its visitors. The most valued aspects mentioned by the interviewees were the psychological and spiritual well-being, as well as benefits to physical health and the improvement of their work capacity, which stresses that the visitation to green areas constitutes an increasingly recognized practice due to its benefits to health and quality of life.
