A RESPOSTA DE LOCKE AO CETICISMO

Neste artigo, proponho que o exame da resposta de Locke ao ceticismo requer que consideremos ao menos três sentidos distintos em que o ceticismo surge no horizonte do Ensaio. O ceticismo é abordado, direta ou indiretamente, (i) como um resultado geral da investigação filosófica, (ii) como decisão metódica de duvidar e ainda (iii) como resultado de um problema particular que desafia a pretensão de conhecimento. Penso que, por meio do exame de como Locke reage a tais questões, obtemos uma imagem mais precisa e nuançada da relação de Locke com a filosofia cética.
