“Renda De Bilros” and Tourist Assumption in Contexts of Community Involvement in Peniche, Portugal

To put in perspective mechanisms of identity assumption and tourist attractiveness around “Renda de Bilros” in Peniche, Portugal, is the purpose of this paper. Through a literature analysis, participant observation and a questionnaire implemented with the local community, it was identified an iconic appropriation of this heritage by the local community with promotional and tourism values aspirations. Stand out on the other hand, recommendations for Peniche's tourist stakeholders within the scope of the organization of future events regarding this identity symbol.
