Understandings About Leisure in the Academic Context

Interview With José Clerton Martins

Abstract

Leisure has been approached in higher education in recent years in a deeper and reflective way. One of those responsible for promoting the study of leisure is Professor José Clerton Martins, associated with the Graduate Program in Psychology at the University of Fortaleza / Brazil. Currently, his contributions to scientific research permeate insights about: Leisure and Free Time and Organizational Culture. Professor José Clerton published 40 articles in journals, 50 book chapters, and 7 books about the subject. This interview was conducted in order to understand the approach of Professor José Clerton to leisure studies. The questions aimed to elaborate a reflection on how the theories of leisure have been understood, especially in the academic world. The researcher exposes his insertion path in leisure studies, positioning himself critically in relation to the subject of study in the academic context and his experience in the personal context.
