Abstract

The objective is to identify the causes of accidents in hand gliding from the accounts of their athletes. The methodology was a documentary analysis through sources that describe reports of athletes free flight. From the analysis of the data found that accidents occur in interaction with devices and interaction with the flight conditions. And that some accidents can be avoided with care in checking the equipment. However, another part becomes more difficult, because it is related to the need to search for excitement, where technology investments help to increase the safety and risks simultaneously. We noticed that the belief in technology is one of the characteristics of modern narrative risk which excludes any type of random event.
