In this study we analyze the free time of the individuals who perform volunteer work in the Pastoral in a neighborhood of the city of Maringá-PR. For this study, we assumed theoretical-methodological as historical materialism, founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Contact with individuals was conducted through semi- structured interviews. After analysis, we conclude that there is a sense of obligation and responsibility to the activities of the Pastoral, although individuals characterize this occupation as a pleasurable activity. It was also possible to identify the subjects analyzed the social conformation and lack of knowledge about the organic capital before the situation they find in volunteer work.
