Perspective for the Leisure with the Impasse of the Struggle for the Reduction of the Working Day

The workers’ fight for the reduction of working time has declined internationally. Now the word of command is flexibilisation, thar threatens the main point of the leisure sociological theory – the leisure paid by work. Do we have the same leisure if we’ll don’t have the week-end, vacations and retirement paid by work? This text, after summarizing the different stages of the reduction of working time in Brasil, intends to show that the leisure phenomena understanding needs other theoretical support than work sociology – the culture history and sociology.
