Observations on the population dynamics of Zygodontonys laziurus (Lund, 1841), Calomys expulsus (Lund, 1841), and Oryzomys subflavus (Wagner, 1842) in cerrado vegetation in the Rio das Velhas Valley (Prudente de Morais, Minas Gerais, Brazil - 1981) Rodent

Abstract

The population dynamics of three rodents species (Zygodontonys laziurus, Oryzomys subflavus and Calomys expulsus) was studied in an area of "Cerrado" surrounded by an agroecosystern (Minas Gerais, Brazil), during the year of 1981. The authors used the technique of monthly capture-mark-recapture, using a grid of 12000 m² with four moving transects of 41 traps. Zygodontonys laziurus and Oryzomys subflavus showed an annual variation of captures with higher values in the dry and cold months, and a decrease of these values in the wet and hot ones. A very small number of Calomys expulsus was captured during the study period.
