Eugenia matogrossensis, a new species from the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, is described, illustrated and compared with the apparently related Eugenia stictopetala, from which it can be distinguished by the acuminate blades with prominent midvein on both sides and larger pedicels and flowers. The following new combinations are presented: Myrcia flagellaris and Plinia pseudodichasiantha, in replacement of Gomidesia flagellaris and Myrciaria pseudodichasiantha, respectively.
