Eurystheus, an Euripidean satyr play of unknown date identified with certainty with the Twelfth Labor of Heracles, reached us in a fragmentary state, and its plot is so far highly conjectural. The purpose of this article is, at first, to present a Portuguese translation of both the certain and the uncertain fragments attributed to Eurystheus, with brief commentaries; and secondly, to discuss the position of these fragments within the drama in the light of mythical elements available from literary and iconographic sources prior to 400 BCE.
