Resumo

Este texto é parte de um estudo maior dedicado à recepção e transformação do De anima de Aristóteles no medievo árabe. Seguindo a metodologia adotada por Ivry (2001), realizou-se, em outra ocasião, um estudo de caso do De anima III.5 430a10-25 a partir da tradução anônima editada por Badawi, da paráfrase anônima editada por Arznen e do Livro sobre a alma de Avicena. Nesta ocasião, o estudo de caso proposto tem em vista traçar uma parte da genealogia das três definições de alma apresentadas no Livro sobre a alma I.1, a partir das duas versões árabes do De anima II.1 412a19-30. O propósito da análise do léxico encontrado nessas versões é investigar se há indícios para assumir a influência desses textos na elaboração do Livro sobre a alma I.1.
