Leisure in the Environment: an analysis about the ascent of Hill Santo Antônio/SP as a possibility of Leisure.

Abstract

This paper presents as a central problem to analyze the motivations that lead people to climb the Santo Antonio Hill, in Caraguatatuba, on the coast of the state of São Paulo. This hill is one of the postcards of the city. Several people visit it daily on foot and / or by car. In order to evaluate going to the hill as a possibility of leisure activity, 50 people were interviewed using the semi-structured interview technique adopted by Boni and Quaresma (2005). From Marcellino's (2012) theoretical perspectives, we sought to understand which cultural domains of leisure motivated people to climb the Santo Antônio Hill. This specific leisure equipment of the city of Caraguatatuba/SP is surrounded by vast vegetation of the Atlantic Forest, so it aimed to grasp the influence of the environment on the motivation of the subjects to perform this leisure activity. The study noted that the cultural interest of leisure most mentioned was the physical interest. There was also little knowledge about the possibilities that leisure activities can offer, as well as a lack of information about the relevance of the Atlantic Forest. Leisure in nature may be an excellent option for individual and social improvement, but research indicates the need to better clarify hill goers about leisure opportunities and the need to know the local environment better.
