Abstract

This study aims to study the culture of the Congado that reveals religiosity and the transmission of knowledge not only about symbolic and historical knowledge, but the construction of the feeling of belonging to the local culture. For the research, the guard of the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional of Ouro Preto (APAE-OP) was chosen, in order to unveil the space lived by the members of the guard with the party from a cultural perspective, with the theoretical abortions of the cultural geography and leisure studies. To achieve the desired results, the following methodological procedures were used as ways of operationalizing the research: bibliographical and documentary research, participant observation and semi-structured interviews. Therefore, to live the party is to live the place from experience and emotions, it is to find oneself in the other and to recognize oneself. It is to mark, model, transform the place by assigning value, sense and meaning. We hope that more and more research will seek to follow interdisciplinary paths, whether between Leisure and Geography. This research was supported by CAPES.
