Abstract

I start from the fact that leisure is a human need, culturally determined, and one of the social rights granted by the Brazilian Federal Constitution. The culture of inequality places women and leisure in a relationship that deserves attention. Pursuing the objective of charting the territories that make up possible relationships between women and leisure, on the agenda of six Brazilian social movements of women, I conducted a search using bibliographic reference, documentary analysis and interviews. The results pointed to macro and micropolitical aspects that deal with how leisure composes and how it could compose the agendas of women's social movements. For this article I bring the reflection about the low legitimacy of the right to leisure in the lives of women, which places their experiences at the level of political action.
