Abstract

This article is a synthesis of part of the master's thesis developed in the Tumbira community, Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) of the Rio Negro in Amazonas, completed in 2018. It aims to analyze the sociocultural relations in the leisure time of the Tumbira community , observed during the interview process and continues in depth in the ongoing PhD. It is a field research, descriptive and exploratory, with a qualitative approach, carried out through semi-structured interviews. Fifteen families from the thirty-two that made up the community during the research period participated in the study, represented by female heads of households, men and young people over eighteen. As a result, leisure time was revealed to go beyond entertainment or rest, as it is in the moment of relaxation that sociability relationships are spontaneously expressed, allowing us to see how the social and cultural structure of the community is configured. It is concluded that leisure and culture are inseparable, as leisure practices are culturally intertwined in each member of the community.
