Abstract

The leisure has been frequently focus of experiences, research and interventions, from different perspectives. In this direction, this study presents the scenario of a scientific production involving different approaches of leisure, from a literature review of 142 articles published from 2008 to 2012, available on the data of Latin American and Caribbean Literature Data Sciences health (LILACS). The articles were analyzed by the technique of content analysis, divided into the following categories: Health (50) Public policies (27) Sports (8) Environment (8), Physical Education (7) and various other themes (42). In this work the articles were emphasized included in the first category, in which we observed issues related primarily to mental health, the prevalence of activity or physical inactivity in different age groups and populations, health promotion, and others. Furthermore, it was found in these studies underutilization of theoretical frameworks leisure over the health, culminating in a tendency to generalize about leisure as a time/space for physical activity. Nevertheless, some studies show that health and leisure still have many issues to deal with together, since that both are social rights.
