LEISURE AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE ELDERLY: THE CASE OF A COLLECTIVE URBAN RESETTLEMENT NEIGHBORHOOD ALTAMIRA IN PARÁ

Leisure besides being indicated for the promotion of health and quality of life is also of fundamental importance for a good social life. The objective of this research is to analyze the impacts on the quality of life related to leisure of the elderly residents of the Jatobá neighborhood of the City of Altamira-Pa. A total of 109 elderly people, aged 60 to 95 years old, were relocated from neighborhoods near the center to planned resettlement districts. The same was done through a field survey, with the application of two questionnaires, the SF-36 and the leisure questionnaire. The present study concludes that external factors such as distance, lack of safety, lack of transportation and incentive to practice physical activities may have had an impact on the leisure practices of these elderly people, and these factors, together with the lack of leisure projects, have brought impacts on the quality of life of this public so lacking care in various sectors.Downloads
