Abstract

We investigated a case of grammaticalization in the Portuguesespoken in Brazil. From a qualitative analysis, we focused the scaleof change developed by lexical item achar, full verb, that indetermined contexts assumes the function, more grammatical, of aepistemic modal elemento Now, in this paper, our aim is todemonstrate, througl?- a quantitative analysis, a sociolinguistic studyof the more grammatical forms of the achar, from the notion ofapparent-time.
