Stroke is the brain-vascular disease of greatest incidence, and may, as a sequel, bring about motor and/or cognitive disability. This study based on the qualitative-descriptive approach, had the objective of understanding how a person affected by stroke sees himself/herself. The sample was made up of 6 individuals answering a semi-structured interview. Based on content analysis, we obtained a thematic category with the title "dealing with losses: the perception of disabled patients after stroke", covering the loss of independence, autonomy, identity, the reduction of self-esteem and relationships.Downloads
