  Doutor em Direito e Justiça pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brasil). Pós-Doutor em Filosofia do Direito pela Universitat de Barcelona (Catalunya). Doutor em Filosofia pela Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal). Professor Associado de Filosofia do Direito e disciplinas afins na UFMG. Professor Visitante na Universitat de Barcelona (2015-2016) e na Universidad de Córdoba (Espanha, 2021-2022). Pesquisador Residente no IEAT entre 2017 e 2018. Bolsista de produtividade do CNPq – Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico.

• Carlo Salzani, Messerli Research Institute, Vienna, Austria

  Carlo Salzani is a research fellow at the Messerli Research Institute in Vienna, where he leads the project "Animal Suffering and the Politics of Shame", funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). His research interests include animal ethics, literary animal studies, animals and politics, and biopolitics. His latest publications include the book Animals, Empathy, and Anthropomorphism: The Limits of Imagination (2025) and the co-edited volume The Biopolitical Animal (2024).
