Abstract

Throughout his career, Michel Foucault repeatedly expressed his criticism of the methodological choices, theoretical pretensions, and complicity of traditional philosophy with technologies of power. Nevertheless, he never failed to acknowledge the philosophical roots of his work. To demonstrate the compatibility of these two positions, this article will attempt to show that, by adopting a historical, particular and even local approach, he managed to delineate a philosophy that, instead of serving as a means of controlling and excluding other discourses, became a politics of truth committed to providing tactical indicators for the struggle against subjugation.
