A HISTÓRIA DA “ESCOLA ESTADUAL SÃO JOAQUIM”: UM ESTUDO BIBLIOGRÁFICO SOBRE O PATRIMÔNIO TOMBADO PELO IPHAN E O ATUAL ESTADO DE CONSERVAÇÃO

O presente artigo apresenta um estudo bibliográfico acerca da atual “Escola Estadual São Joaquim”, um patrimônio histórico tombado pelo IPHAN (Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional) desde 1948, no município de Conceição do Mato Dentro – Minas Gerais. O edifício possui uma pintura em painéis no teto de uma das salas, que representa a história do filho pródigo com trajes da época. Em decorrência dessa pintura, parte do prédio foi anexada ao IPHAN, enfatizado a riqueza arquitetônica do edifício como um todo. O estudo destaca a má conservação do prédio centenário, bem como os fatores que culminaram no atual cenário e as incertezas sobre seu futuro. A partir de 1910, passou a funcionar como colégio feminino sob a direção das Irmãs Clarissas Franciscanas, e tornou-se referência de ensino na região. Em 1985o prédio passou a ser usado pelo setor público como escola estadual, que se mantém até então. Atualmente, encontra-se parcialmente em funcionamento, devido às condições precárias e por oferecer riscos iminentes aos ocupantes. É relevante ressaltar os valores patrimoniais, culturais e locais que o patrimônio representa para a comunidade, e o apelo da própria comunidade através do movimento “Resgatando o São Joaquim” em prol de sua conservação e restauração.

Abstract

THE HISTORY OF “ESCOLA ESTADUAL SÃO JOAQUIM”: A BIBLIOGRAPHIC STUDY ON PATRIMONY TAKEN BY IPHAN AND THE CURRENT STATE OF CONSERVATION. This article presents a bibliographic study on the current "Escola Estadual São Joaquim" a heritage listed by IPHAN (Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage) since 1948, in the city of Conceição do Mato Dentro - Minas Gerais. The building has a painting on panels on the ceiling of one of the rooms, which is the story of the prodigal son in clothing from the period. Because of this painting, part of the building was attached to IPHAN, given the architectural richness of the building as a whole. The study highlights the poor maintenance of the centenary building, as well as the factors that led to the current situation and uncertainty about the future. From 1910, it was converted to a girls’ school led by the Irmãs Clarissas Franciscanas, and became a reference in teaching in the region. In 1985, the building came to be used by the public sector and state school, which remains to date. Currently, it is partially in operation, due to poor conditions and offer imminent risk to occupants. It is important to highlight the heritage values, cultural and heritage sites for the community, and the popular appeal through the "Resgatando o São Joaquim” movement in an attempt to the conservation and restoration.
