Focus and Scope

Bibliotecas Universitárias: pesquisas, experiências e perspectivas is an open access scientific journal linked to the Biblioteca Universitária of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). In its new (resumed) phase, as of 2025, it adopts the continuous flow publication model, providing greater agility in the dissemination of knowledge.

The journal aims to disseminate research and practices in the field of Information Science, covering Librarianship, Documentation, Archivology, Museology, Information Management and related areas. It seeks to contribute to the advancement of scientific production and the strengthening of the academic community, promoting the exchange of knowledge and debate on practices, challenges and innovations in the field of information. With an interdisciplinary approach, it encourages collaboration between librarians, information scientists, educators, managers and other specialists in the sector.

Bibliotecas Universitárias: pesquisas, experiências e perspectivas publishes unpublished articles, as well as contributions in various categories, such as experience reports, theoretical essays, interviews and reviews. All submissions must be aligned with the themes of Library Science, Information Science and related areas or present the results of studies and research into their practices and impacts.

The journal is dedicated to being a space for dialogue between professionals and academics in Information Science who are committed to the production, organization, preservation, dissemination and use of information in various contexts and media. In this way, it contributes to the theoretical and practical advancement of the field, promoting reflections on information and especially on the role of university libraries and other information units in contemporary society.
