Abstract

The consumption of the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI’s) has increased in recent years around the world. The success of these drugs is due to its efficacy and low incidence of adverse drug reactions. However, considering the increase of their use, reports of adverse drug reactions related to hemorrhage disorders, specifically in the gastrointestinal tract have also been more frequent. Even though this event seems to be rare, certain drug interactions are causing concern among medical community. Among these interactions, concomitant use of SSRI’s and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID’s), frequently prescribed in dentistry, are of special interest and are the center of this literature review.
