Reflexões sobre a poesia e seu tempo: “Ce siècle est grand et fort”, de Hugo, e “Au lecteur”, de Baudelaire, duas visões sobre o século XIX francês

Resumo: Neste artigo, apresenta-se uma leitura comparada dos poemas “Ce siècle est grand et fort”, de Victor Hugo, e “Au lecteur”, de Charles Baudelaire, a fim de analisar diferenças e correlações na maneira como cada eu lírico observa e poetiza o universo que o rodeia. Os poetas viveram na Paris do século XIX, época de grandes transformações intelectuais, tecnológicas e sociais que configuram um momento crucial na formação da vida moderna. Entretanto, tendo vivido no mesmo contexto social, apresentam características bastante diversas nessas peças, o que leva a refletir sobre as relações entre o sujeito, o mundo e a literatura, que expressa o encontro do sujeito com o mundo através de um olhar sempre subjetivo. Para tanto, quer-se também observar as posições dos próprios poetas sobre a realidade a partir dos textos críticos “Expositon Universelle” (BAUDELAIRE, 1855) e “Paris” (HUGO, 1867). Além disso, será de essencial interesse trazer à baila autores que se debruçaram sobre tais obras, como Pierre Albouy, Walter Benjamin, Léon Cellier, Antoine Compagnon, Hugo Friedrich, Max Milner, Henri Peyre, Gaetan Picon, Charles Renouvier, Raymond Trousson.

Abstract: In this article, we present a comparative reading of poems “Ce grand siècle et est fort”, Victor Hugo, and “Au lecteur”, Charles Baudelaire, in order to analyze correlations and differences in how each lyric observes and poet the universe. The poets lived in Paris of the century XIX, time of great transformations intellectual, techological and social, a crucial moment of the formation of the modern life. However, having lived in the same social context, They present very different characteristics, which leads to a reflection on the relations between the man and the world, and we also can think about the role of the literature, that expresses the subject’s encounter with the world through a looking always subjective. Therefore, we observe their positions about reality from the critical texts “Expositon Universelle” (BAUDELAIRE, 1855) and “Paris” (HUGO, 1867). In addition, it will be essential to bring up authors who have studied such Pierre Albouy, Walter Benjamin, Léon Cellier, Antoine Compagnon, Hugo Friedrich, Max Milner, Henri Peyre, Gaetan Picon, Charles Renouvier, Raymond Trousson.
