Realismo e tagarelice no romance histórico
entre Walter Scott e Camilo Castelo Branco

Este artigo revisita o truísmo crítico que correlaciona o romance histórico a uma retórica de factualidade ou a um modo realista hipertrofiado. De um ponto de vista cosmopolita, mapeamos índices de reflexividade narrativa, que revelam a ficcionalidade dos textos, em romances históricos de quatro tradições nacionais: Waverley (1814), por Walter Scott; The Last of the Mohicans (1826), por James Fenimore Cooper; O Guarani (1857), por José de Alencar; e O Judeu (1866), por Camilo Castelo Branco.
