Abstract

This doctoral research analyzed the implementation of the Continued Teacher Training (CTT) of sexuality teachers on the Magisterium Professional Development Division (MPDD) from the Education Municipal Secretary (EMS) of Manaus since its creation, in 2000, until the first semester of 2018, with the goal of identifying the sexuality and gender concepts that permeate the trainings and the activities developed by teachers in the schools; the impact of the disputes around the educational policies regarding sexuality on the legislative local plan about the MPDD trainers’ practices as well as the teacher(s) and verifying how both professional groups deal with the established tension. The qualitative study had ethnographic emphasis. It was identified that the undertaken actions are permeated by several concepts on sexuality and gender that co-exist or differ depending on the interest at stake each moment. To deal with the tensions and justify the work relevance, teacher(s) make use of normative and focus on the bullying prevention and juvenile sexual violence. On the sexuality educational policy plan there is a tendency to ignore what children and teenagers think about sexuality, which can expose the place that the tutor still occupies in this moment within this context.
