LITERACY OF BLIND STUDENTS:
WHAT DOES THE NATIONAL PERIODICAL PRODUCTION REVEAL?
Keywords:
literacy, blindness, scientific literatureAbstract
This review article aims to inventory and analyze Brazilian scientific articles on literacy for blind people. To this end, a systematic search was carried out, by subject, on the Journal Portal of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior. As a corpus for analysis, only 7 national scientific articles were obtained, published between 2007 and 2022, in different journals, without identifying patterns regarding their insertion, frequency and bibliographic dissemination, of which only 3 are indexed in the Scielo database. The articles, in short, show the relevance of Braille for the initial learning of reading and writing for blind learners, but, in sample terms, mobilize limited and reduced data, mainly because they were generated with a small number of blind participants. The space-time of the inclusive common class was absent from the localized periodical production, which dealt mainly with institutions or specialized contexts. In addition, the research scenarios and institutional background of the authors are concentrated in the Brazilian Southeast-South axis, as well as theoretical-methodological insufficiencies persist in the scientific communication of research. Therefore, new and broad studies are recommended, which explore the interfaces between literacy and blindness in Brazil, with the dissemination of their results in scientific journals.
