Abstract

The evidence of climatic changes in the world is expressed in the variability of the pluviometric indexes and in the frequency of extreme climatological events, in the elevation of the sea level, in the increase of the temperature, among others. This set of phenomena has caused an increase in erosive processes, undermining and collapse of slopes that put people and places at risk, including cultural heritage. In this scenario, it is worth discussing, in an interdisciplinary perspective, the effects of climate change on the Brazilian archaeological heritage in the coastal region, assessing its weaknesses. As a reference, the archeological sites of Babitonga Bay, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, are analyzed. The methodology used is the literature review, associated with field research and imagery material. The results lead to consider the risks that affect this type of property and the need for adaptive measures capable of containing the threats.
