Abstract

The incipient research on female production in Brazilian Modern Architecture reveals professionals whose modern language point to a participation in the formation of a modern national architecture. With projects of high technical quality that, even so, are little known. The lack of information on the production of architects working in the 20th century, in addition to characterizing a gap in the history of Brazilian Modern Architecture, threatens the preservation of a heritage that also accounts for the consolidation of the contemporary architecture scene, marked by the wide female performance both academic and professional. This article, therefore, presents the mapping of the presence of female professionals in publications of the magazine Acrópole (1932-1971), an important periodical of architecture of the 20th century. As well as the the trajectory of three architects who have published works in the magazine: Lygia Fernandes, Odiléa Toscano and Rosa Kliass; in order to contribute to the debate on the female legacy in Modern Brazilian Architecture and its recognition, and also to honor these professionals who were some of the precursors of Brazilian architecture.
