Abstract

The planation surfaces have always been one of the most studied and controversial subjects of the geomorphology. Several models were thought to explain their genesis and evolution. However, many of these models are partially surpassed by the new geomorphological knowledge. This study demonstrates, through bibliographical revision, that the planation surfaces have polygenetic origin and that the juxtaposition of the several theories is the best way to understanding this subject.
