The aim of this study was to identify the influence of the heating cores in rainfall totals in Belo Horizonte (MG) during rainy periods 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. Based on hourly data, acquired in eighteen sampling points distributed in the nine regions of the county, a map was made with the accumulated monthly rainfall. The weather systems were identified using the technique of rhythmic analysis, subsidized by satellite images, synoptic maps and information of the weather stations. The results showed the influence of topography on intensification, modulation and spatial distribution of precipitation. Regions located near the Serra do Curral/Serra do Rola Moça recorded the highest total daily and monthly rainfall. However, it was not possible to identify the influence of the heating cores in the spatial distribution and precipitate volume.
