O surgimento das Intervenções Assistidas por Animais no Brasil
o que podemos aprender com Nise da Silveira?

Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar observações de Nise da Silveira acerca das interações entre seus pacientes e animais não-humanos, especialmente gatos e cachorros. Na primeira parte do texto, estabeleceremos um breve panorama histórico das concepções sobre o papel atribuído aos animais não-humanos na saúde humana. Já na segunda parte, veicularemos considerações de Nise sobre o tema. Nossa hipótese é a de que Nise, apostando na potência terapêutica dos laços afetivos que podem se estabelecer entre humanos e animais não-humanos, desbravou novos caminhos no campo da saúde mental e, assim, instituiu coordenadas que, posteriormente, foram relevantes para o surgimento e o desenvolvimento das IAAs no Brasil.
