In search of a methodology to enrich domain ontologies

Abstract
This structured summary is part of an ongoing doctoral research and was presented at the II Disciple Research Forum at ECI / UFMG. The guiding objective is to develop a methodology with detailed procedures to enrich all components of the domain ontologies. The research is characterized as applied, as to nature, exploratory, as to objectives, and experimental as regards methodological procedures. The steps proposed in the methodology of this investigation are seven: (1) bibliographic research; (2) mapping the literature on enriching ontologies; (3) study of the standards and methods from the Library and Information Science for updating and maintaining Knowledge Organization Systems; (4) study of ontology development methodologies; (5) qualitative and comparative analysis of the content of the documents raised in steps 2, 3 and 4; (6) development of the methodology to enrich domain ontologies; (7) evaluation of the methodology developed. The research still has results to be presented and discussed.
