Public higher education institutions are challenged to improve their administrative performance and overcome institutional knowledge management problems. Based on these issues, this article presents a study that aims to verify how the mapping of processes and the production of informational flows can assist in decision making and in the elaboration of significant improvements in the administrative routine of public institutions of higher education. For this, the work developed at the School of Information Science with the implementation and realization of the Academic BPM Project will be analyzed as a case study.
