This work presents a proposal for translating into free verse, accompanied by explanatory notes, four Latin epigrams by the late antique poet Claudius Claudianus. The work is divided into three parts. In the first part, I provide a brief introduction to the poet Claudius Claudianus. In the second part, I present the four epigrams, drawing on information found in the works of some researchers and critics who have devoted themselves to the study of the poet's works, especially his carmina minora. In the third and final part, I offer brief insights from two translation theorists whose works have been essential for contemplating the translation process. Finally, I present the Latin texts followed by their translations into free verse in Portuguese, accompanied by explanatory notes.
