This article seeks to present the notion of reading windows as a possible approach to the reception of classics. Thus, when considering Homer's Odyssey as the first great fantasy adventure – in which we find several extraordinary elements –, it is understood that, in order to unravel the internal logic of its narrative, the reader must be led to it. Thus, we can think of characters that function as reading windows, that is, that lead the reader beyond their own reality, inserting them into the world of the text. To formulate the idea of reading windows, the theoretical assumptions of reception aesthetics will be used, in addition to specific categories of fantasy fiction, which are similar to the Homeric epic.
