The donation of João do Rio´s library to the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura: aspects of a little know history

Abstract

Display result of inquiry concerning the origin of the Paulo Barreto’s Library (João do Rio) in the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura. Objective to offer to subsidies for studies concerning the writer and journalist. Reconstructs and its tells to the process of donation and reception of books of the of writer using manuscripts sources and printed. It presents sampling of authors in the collection, analyzes the form of organization of the collection and consider that the disposal adopted currently is same that the privileged by former holder. It considers that the received library represented the addition of two quantities previously formed by diverse reasons.
