Analysis of the book collection use in the main library of the Universidade Estadual de Londrina

Abstract

The usage of UEL Main Library book collection by subject areas (Humanities, Applied Social Sciences, Linguistics, Language and Arts) was analysed. This study was carried out by sample in order to determine a comparison between the amount of use related to the collection size and to registered students in the analysed Departments and to identify the collection usage by subject areas. The Departments were related to UOC collection numbers and the usage was studied according to the loan. The results demonstrated that UEL Departments with more books and more registered students not always showed higher book usage standards. The reasons for non use might be investigated.
