Abstract

Presents an overview of the main technologies for development and provision of Internet digital resources. Oriented towards information professionals, the article approaches topics such as a brief history of the Web, characteristics of its main language HTML, basic concepts of multimidia and more recent technologies like Java and ActiveX. Throughout the text, citations to Internet on-line documents are provided to readers interested about more details on specific topics.
